How the check decides.
Each of your three has a scope: its repo remotes, its folders, a few keywords. When your agent is about to start something, the hook asks Nuffo’s check_bet one question: is this part of your three?

Receipts and undo
Every change an agent makes leaves a receipt with its name on it. Tap undo and it’s gone.

Fails open
If Nuffo is down, slow, or your token was revoked, your commands run normally. You get one quiet line about it, once per session, never a silent skip and never a stuck agent.
nuffo: couldn’t check with Nuffo just now, so this went through unchecked. Commands still run.

Not sure what your three are any more? scan finds the git repos in your code folders and lists them, newest first, with when you last touched each. You tick which go to your pile in Nuffo, then pick your three in the app. The others rest, guilt-free. Nothing is sent until you pick.

Quick answers
Will it slow my agent down?
The check only runs on commands that look like they start something new (npm create, git init, git clone and friends). Everything else passes without a call. When it does check, it has a short timeout.
What happens if Nuffo is down?
Your commands run normally. Hooks fail open: if Nuffo is unreachable, errors, or the token was revoked, you see one 'nuffo: …' line about it, once per session, and your agent keeps working.
What does the CLI change on my machine?
It adds the Nuffo MCP server to Claude Code and Cursor, installs the hooks, and writes a short static rules block into ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md between nuffo:start and nuffo:end. Every file is backed up first. npx @nuffo/cli disconnect removes all of it and revokes the token.
Can my agent add things to today?
No. Agent tokens can't write today, by design and in the database, not just the UI. Your agent can capture ideas and tasks to your list and mark things done. Picking the three is yours.
Does it work with ChatGPT or claude.ai?
Yes, as capture and context: they can add to your list, read your three and today's plan, and mark things done. They have no hooks, so nothing stops them starting something. Only Claude Code and Cursor get the check.
Is builder mode free?
The rules, the MCP connection and one connected AI are free. The project check (the hook) is part of Pro, and every account starts with 14 days of Pro. On Free the hook stays out of the way: your agent keeps going, and Nuffo still knows your three.
Is it only for coding?
No. Your three can be a launch, a move and a marathon. Nuffo is a calm to-do list for work and life; builder mode just gives it extra teeth inside your coding tools.
